N47 / N57 Upgrade / Opgradering

BMW's N47 og N57 motorer har været i brug siden 2007/8 indtil 2019 i mange forskellige modeller. Motoren er egentlig særdeles velkonstrueret og særdeles stærk. Motoren reagerer særdeles godt på tuning da den har et godt flow i topstykket. Især N47 motorene har fået et ry for at have dårlige knastkæder og N57'eren har ry for at ødelægge hoved/plejlstangslejer (især de kraftige modeller 2 og 3 turboladere). Vi har analyseret hvorfor motorene har fået disse dårlige ry. Den prinære årsag til motorproblemer er BMW udviddede olieinterval og samtidig BMW's søgen efter den absolut bedste brændstoføkonomi. Vi anbefaler at man kører max 15000km mellem hver olieskift, bruger enten original eller Mahle oliefilter. Dette vil løse 99% af alle problemer med knastkæder (hvis knastkæden skiftes brug kun original kæde eller kæde fra IWIS og nyt originalt knasthjul).
Den helt store motorkiller på N47/N57 motorene er et spundet hovedleje og evt. efterfølgende ødelagt plejlleje. Vi har analyseret årsagen til disse motorhavarier og fundet en løsning, hvor man kan forhindre at det sker. Løsningen ligge i at hæve olietrykket i motoren, Da BMW konstruerede motoren gjorde man alt for at nedsætte friktion i motoren og ingeniørene mente at 1.1 bar olietryk var nok i tomgang og stigende til 5 bar ved 4200 omdrejninger. Problemet er at N57 motorene kan yde virkelig højt drejningsmoment ved lave omdrejninger, hvor olietrykket ikke er særlig højt.
Dette kan give problemet, at hvis olien er slidt og evt. blevet letter fortyndet af diesel, kører man på grænsen til at krumtappen fortrænger olien og rammer hovedlejerne, så risikere man et spundet leje.

Vi har nu udviklet en løsning det 100% løser dette problem. Det er simpelthen et must på N57 udgaver af alle 35d, 40d og især 50d motorer. Det er selvfølgelig også en god opgradering af alle N47 20d, 23d, 25d og N57 25d og 30d motorer.

Vores løsning består i at ændre gearingen på oliepumpen, således at olietrykket hæves væsentligt.

BMW's N47 and N57 engines have been in use since 2007/8 until 2019 in many different models. The engine is actually extremely well constructed and extremely strong. The engine responds extremely well to tuning as it has a good flow in the cylinder head.
The N47 engines in particular have a reputation for having bad cam chains and the N57 has a reputation for ruining main/connecting rod bearings (especially the powerful models with 2 and 3 turbochargers). We have analyzed why the engines have got these bad reputations.
The primary cause of engine problems is BMW's extended oil interval and at the same time BMW's search for the absolute best fuel economy. We recommend driving a maximum of 15,000 km between each oil change, using either an original or Mahle oil filter. This will solve 99% of all problems with cam chains (if the cam chain is changed use only original chain or chain from IWIS and new original cam wheel).
The biggest engine killer on the N47/N57 engines is a spun main bearing and possibly subsequently damaged connecting rod bearing. We have analyzed the cause of these engine breakdowns and found a solution to prevent it from happening. The solution lies in raising the oil pressure in the engine. When BMW designed the engine, everything was done to reduce friction in the engine and the engineers believed that 1.1 bar oil pressure was enough at idle and rising to 5 bar at 4200 RPM. The problem is that the N57 engines can produce really high torque at low revs, where the oil pressure is very low. This can cause the problem, that if the oil is worn and possibly has been slightly diluted by diesel, you drive on the verge of the crankshaft displacing the oil and hitting the main bearings, then you risk a spun bearing !.

We have now developed a solution that 100% solves this problem.
It is simply a must on N57 versions of all 35d, 40d and especially 50d engines.
It is of course also a good upgrade for all N47 20d, 23d, 25d and N57 25d and 30d engines.
Our solution consists in changing the gearing on the oil pump, so that the oil pressure is raised significantly.

Den må absolut ikke have nogen ridser eller slidmærker ellers skal den skiftes.
